Bridgerton Star Regé-Jean Page Will Not Return for Season 2
< img src="https://247healthnews.net/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/HKXCZP.jpg"class="ff-og-image-inserted"> Dear Bridgerton fans, I have some horrible news: Regé-Jean Page will not be going back to our screens as Simon Basset, the Duke of Hastings, in season 2.
Netflix and Shondaland revealed his departure on April 2 in the only way they know how: a letter from Girl Whistledown herself.
“Dear Readers, while all eyes turn to Lord Anthony Bridgerton’s mission to discover a Viscountess, we bid farewell to Regé-Jean Page, who so triumphantly played the Duke of Hastings,” the message began. “We’ll miss Simon’s presence onscreen, however he will always belong of the Bridgerton household. Daphne will stay a dedicated wife and sibling, assisting her sibling browse the upcoming social season and what it has to offer– more intrigue and love than my readers might have the ability to bear.”
It sounds like Phoebe Dynevor is still on board as Daphne Bridgerton, the Duchess of Hastings, which is a relief. Or is it now Daphne Basset? In any case, the absence of her costar will be significantly felt by fans.
While this might come as no surprise to fans of the books by Julia Quinn– as Lady Whistledown noted, the second installation is heavily concentrated on the Bridgerton Viscount, Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey)– it was certainly a shock to fans of the hot Netflix series.
“NOOO,” one user tweeted in action to the news. “I can see that word being uttered consistently. He was what everyone spoke about that got me to enjoy. Sure, the cast is fantastic … the outfits are to pass away for … and Shonda did an impressive job, however NOOOOOOO.”
This user is not incorrect. While Bridgerton remains among Netflix’s most effective series to date, there’s no doubt Page was the breakout star. Following its debut, the actor sparked James Bond rumors, hosted Saturday Night Live, and received the a lot of awards nominations of anyone in the cast. Most recently, he scored the series’ first acting win at the NAACP Image Awards, taking house the prize for outstanding star in a drama series.
Here’s how some others took the news.Still, some
users are pointing out that the show is called Bridgerton, not Basset.
When it comes to Page, the “one-season arc” was among the reasons he accepted the broody role. “It’s a one-season arc. It’s going to have a start, middle, end– give us a year,” Page told Range.” [I believed], ‘That’s fascinating,’ since then it felt like a minimal series. I get to come in, I get to contribute my bit, and then the Bridgerton family rolls on.”
“One of the important things that is different about this [love] genre is that the audience knows the arc finishes,” he continued. “They are available in knowing that, so you can connect people in emotional knots since they have that reassurance that we’re going to come out and we’re going to have the marital relationship and the infant.”
Next for Page is a big task along with Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans: the Netflix spy experience, The Gray Male. We understand you’ll be seeing.
